I hiked the summit to discover an incredible view of the Texas landscape. Walked up the Summit trail (.6 mi) with hubby carrying backpack with water, etc and 3 kids aged 4, 7, & 10. Some folks were trying to make the climb with flip flops, etc., this isn't a hard climb at all, just be somewhat prepared. HYDRATE! Considering the park closes to the public at 10, it might be smart to look into camping overnight. Participants should wear walking shoes/hiking boots, bring sufficient water and a flashlight (preferably with a red light option).
