in solid fashion, even if does lean heavily on the first three albums.

In this album you'll find the best songs Pearl Jam has sung up until 2003, including YELLOW LEDBETTER, BETTERMAN, ALIVE, JEREMY, BLACK, DISSIDENT, and REARVIEW MIRROR. It's a good place to begin if you want a variety of material as every studio album has a different sound to the previous one. It has all the well known tracks included as well as some lesser known songs.

Both CDs have good music and bad, but that's only my opinion.

2 discs broken out thematically, one up-tempo and the other more ballad driven. While the first is rock and metal, the second is mostly like country. Got a hell of a deal on this 6 years ago, sealed. This 33-track double-disc career retrospective documents the arc of a career that went from arena and radio triumphs in the early 90's (while Nirvana's promise imploded in the wake of hype, Pearl Jam's crowd-pleasing fame only burgeoned) to the uncompromising, core audience-focused tack that carried the band into the 21st century. Many of Van Zandt's best-known songs are included -- "Pancho & Lefty," "If I Needed You," "To Live Is to Fly," "Tecumseh Valley," and others -- and while this is not the best set of recordings of those songs, the tendency of Van Zandt's albums to go out of print might mean this is the only one you would find in your nearest record bin, in which case the album is highly recommended. There are some songs I've not listened to very often, so I'm a bit ambivalent, but there's bound to be some I don't like so much. That album never appeared, but in 1993, the tiny Austin-based Sundown label released Rear View Mirror, a 17-track album running nearly 58 minutes and containing newly recorded versions of Van Zandt songs dating back to 1968. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 24, 2018. It was reissued in 2013 as The Essential Pearl Jam. This 2-Disc best of compilation of the great band comes wonderfully packaged in gatefold cardboard sleeve which unfolds into 3 square pieces. Please try again. I'm very new to Pearl Jam's music, and only started looking into their material when they headlined at the Isle of Wight Festival last year. Def worth the buy. In an era when pop nihilism fulfilled its dark promise all too regularly, Pearl Jam not only survived, but thrived to become one of rock's greatest bands.

Unlike most career-spanning, multi-disc retrospectives, Rearviewmirror does not emphasize latter-day albums in order to achieve a sense of balance that's inherently phony. (Sparse applause indicates the recording had been made in a club.)
