It seems impossible that this would be a coincidence, given what we know about our government's corruption. Stay safe. To harness the energy and excitement of students we created the Iron Giraffe Challenge – so named because that is how the villagers refer to the drilling rig in the book. Salva has started an organization to help the people of the South Sudan gain access to clean drinking water by building wells in villages that need it the most. The 6th grade has recently finished reading A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park and the students were moved  to give back after learning about the daily struggles that many citizens of the South Sudan endure; things like poverty, lack of education, violence, and the lack of clean water.
