Also, I kept thinking this felt like a movie my parents would rent on a whim in the early 90s, thinking it was similar to something like The Hand that rocks the cradle, and instead get a movie with baby sacrifices and trees murdering people. There's barely anything here that indicates the man behind The Exorcist or To Live & Die in LA helmed it, but on its own it's a solid, if shortsighted, trashy little thriller bordering on horror.
